Line Drying Cloth Diapers

Here in Michigan, it can get pretty humid outside.  As a busy mom, I do everything I can to cut down the dry time on my diapers.  Watch this video to see some great tips!

The biggest complaint of line drying is that diapers may turn "stiff" or "crunchy."  You can throw them in the dryer for a few minutes to help soften them up. You won't need to do a full dry cycle.  Three to five minutes should be plenty.

If a Doula Were a Drug

I am a HUGE fan of doulas.  It is so much more than a hippy thing to do at birth.  Every 2 minutes a mother dies during pregnancy and/or childbirth in the United States.  We need to do better.  We can do better.    Know your birth options.  A doula can help you understand all of your options and make informed choices.

Natural Tooth Care

EcoBuns is proud to now carry Jack N' Jill tooth care products

Toothpaste: All natural ingredients.  Safe to swallow.  SLS free.  No fluoride.  No Preservatives.  No added color.  Five flavors to choose from.

Bio Toothbrush: This toothbrush has a handle made from 100% corn starch (non GMO) and soft nylon (recyclable) bristles.  It's the first of its kind in the world, designed for children. Suitable from the very first tooth.  BPA & PVC free

Silicone Tooth and Gum Brush: We know these look really weird, but they really work.  They "hug" the teeth so kids find them really easy to use, even on their own. Double sided in order to clean top, bottom, front, and back at the same time! Made from 100% medical/food grade silicone.

Silicone Finger Brush (2-pack):  A safe, hygienic way to clean your baby's first teeth.  Made from 100% medical/food grade silicone, this has been designed for a comfortable and effective start towards good oral hygiene.  Non-toxic and BPA free.  Suitable for use with Jack N' Jill toothpaste.

Silicone Toothbrush with Safety Shield:  Made from 100% medical/food grade silicone.  These are unique because they are one solid piece of medical grade silicone - right down to the bristles.  The brush is designed to be used as a toothbrush, not a teether and chewing should be avoided.

Is Washing Cloth Diapers Expensive?

How Much Does "Special Cloth Diaper Detergent" Cost?

In reality, there is no such thing as special cloth diaper detergent.  As long as you are using a detergent that does not have fabric softeners, brighteners, or enzymes (such as Allen's Naturally) you can use the same detergent for your cloth diapers, baby carriers, clothes, sheets, towels, and everything else that goes into your washing machine.

The detergent that we sell at EcoBuns is just laundry detergent that doesn't have all of the craziness that most mainstream detergents have in them.  I only use Allen's Naturally for all of the laundry at my house because my daughter is so sensitive to the chemicals in mainstream detergent.  (Horrible hives if her clothes are washed in pretty much anything else)  While the detergent we carry at EcoBuns is cloth diaper safe, it is an excellent detergent to use on all of your family's laundry.

So how does the price of Allen's Naturally compare to other brands at other stores?

MomsBloom "UnEvent"

When my dear friend Lesley asked me if EcoBuns could help spread of the word about something fun going on over at MomsBloom I was so excited!  MomsBloom is an organization near and dear to my heart. The work they do for families in West Michigan is amazing.  Any family with an infant under 6 months old can qualify for their free services.  They also serve grieving families who have experienced infant loss.  To find out more about MomsBloom, visit their website.

Here's what Leslie has to say about what's going on at MomsBloom.  Don't forget to like their facebook page to keep up on the UnEvent:

MomsBloom’s  1st annual "UnEvent...Anything but UnEventful” is a way to celebrate the “mom” in your life and support MomsBloom!

We all know that motherhood is anything but uneventful. So instead of throwing a big party, MomsBloom cordially invites you to put down your car keys, and respectfully requests that you kick off your shoes.  Your presence is formally requested on the couch in your living room, just you and your family, celebrating motherhood the way you want!  Go out, stay in, visit family, or take a break! It is COMPLETELY up to you.

So, what is an “UnEvent” and how do I participate unattend?
This year, instead of us deciding how to celebrate, we want you to decide how you will celebrate! Then share the love, and spread the word about MomsBloom #momsbloomunevent

On May 11-17, We will celebrate our 1st Annual UnEvent.  Each day during the UnEvent we will pay tribute to all kinds of moms and women in our community who empower and encourage one another to build strong foundations for all West Michigan Families--and beyond.

Visit us at theunevent.blogspot.com daily to see fun things bloom.  Check out our Garden Shed that will be filled with fun ideas to help you celebrate, like our

How will you unattend?

Lesley Jeruzal is a wife, and an ‘on the go mom' (because let’s face it, there is no such thing as ‘stay at home’) to 3 busy boys ages 9, 7, and 4.  She is a postpartum (DONA
trained) and a bereavement doula, as well as Co-Founder of MomsBloom’s Cameron’s Garden Perinatal Grief Support program.  Lesley currently serves as the Chair of MomsBloom Board of Directors.  She also serves on Spectrum Health’s Patient and Family Advisory Counsel for Women’s Services.
