One Size and Sized Diapers: What's the difference?

When we talk about cloth diapers, there are a few terms to learn.  At EcoBuns, we try to make things super easy for you.  If you have any questions, please stop into our store and ask!  We will make sure you are confident in the diapers you purchase from us.

One Size Diaper:  A diaper intended to fit from "birth to potty training."  In our experience, there is no such thing as a true one size diaper.  You will either need smaller diapers to fit a newborn, or larger diapers to fit a preschooler.  We find that most one size diapers actually fit the 10 (or 12) pounds to roughly 35 (or 40) pounds.

Sized Diaper: A diaper intended to fit a small weight range. For example, a newborn diaper, small, medium, large or extra large diaper.  These diapers will always ensure a better fit than a one size diaper.  They will also last longer in the long run because you are using them for a shorter time from.  (A few months as opposed to two or more years)

Watch this video to find see the pros and cons of both sized and one sized diapers.

Mystery Diaper Giveaway

Our 1st birthday party is fast approaching!  A lot of exciting and fun things will take place at our party (Feb. 22nd from 11-5) including the reveal of a new diaper line.

We are so excited to be expanding, that we are starting the giveaways early!  We will be giving away a diaper from the brand that we will be carrying at our party.

How to Enter:

Stop into the store and fill out an entry form.  One entry per person per day.
Want more entries?  Visit EcoBuns everyday we are open between now and Feb 22nd.   You may enter everyday, but only once per day.

Sorry, phone and email entries will not be accepted.  Only physical entries at the store will be counted.
Entries will be accepted until 8pm on February 21st.

The winner will be announced at 11 am on February 22nd when we will reveal what brand of diapers we will now carry in store and online.  At that time the new brand of diapers will also be available for purchase.  The winner does not have to be present to win (but you don't want to miss this party!)  If the winner does not pick up the diaper within a week, a new winner will be chosen.

Good luck!

Newborn Diaper Tip - Umbilical Cord

Cloth diapering a new born is super easy.  (It's actually one of my personal favorite stages to diaper)

I get a lot of questions about the umbilical cord and cloth diapers.  Most newborn diapers will have a dip down or cut out for the umbilical cord stump.  If your diaper has a higher rise on it, and doesn't have any allowance for the umbilical cord stump you can easily create your own.

Check out this video on how to make your own umbilical cord cut down on a Thirsties size one AIO diaper.

If you have any questions, or want to get set up with your newborn diapers, please stop into EcoBuns, I'd be glad to help you out.

Bring the Outside Fun Inside

When it's too cold to let your babies play outside in the snow, enjoy some sensory play indoors.  Fill your bathtub or a big bucket with snow and let the kids enjoy the snow while staying warm.  My 3 year old enjoyed putting his boots and snow pants on and getting into the tub with the snow.  While my 1 year old was content to play at the side of the tub without actually getting in.

This is a great way for little one to get to enjoy winter fun even if they can't be outside.

Thanks to Tunes4Tykes for the idea!
